2nd Day: Meeting with the guide and walk in the star-shaped historical centre of Palmanova: Piazza Grande, the Venetian and French fortifications, among ramparts, arcades, ramps, underground trenches, doors and ancient barracks. Free time at disposal for lunch. Following transfer to Capriva del Friuli to visit the castle and brief excursion to Slovene. Evening at leisure in Nova Gorica with Slovenian dinner and possible bet at the Casinò. Return to Palmanova. Overnight.
3rd Day: Departure for Rauscedo to visit the biggest nursery of European Barbatelle, to learn the vineyard cross and search techniques; transfer to Spilimbergo and walk through the town with a stop at the Mosaic School, to admire the huge exhibition and to learn the history of the creation and the mosaic working techniques in Friuli and Italy. Free lunch. In the afternoon transfer to San Daniele del Friuli, famous centre for its raw ham, appreciated all over the world; visit to an artisan ham factory, to learn the pigs breeding and selection techniques and ham working techniques; tasting dinner with ham and combined dishes and
wines. Return to Palmanova. Overnight.
4th Day: After breakfast meeting with the guide and departure for Marano harbour; excursion on board of a boat through the Marano Lagoon to visit the beautiful natural reserve of the mouth of the river Stella, crossed by
navigable canals, marked by the fishermen nets and villages. Arrival at the Capitan Island to discover its “Casone”; lunch with a menu of sea dishes consisting of the tasty “fiavoli sotto sal” and the high-quality “pesce delle valli”, entertained with folk music. Later
departure for Aquileia to admire the basilica of the ancient roman colony and the largest and oldest mosaic floor of Christianity, the roman excavations and the Archaeologist Museum. In the evening transfer to the estate “Molin di Ponte” for dinner with typical dishes and DOC wines. Overnight in Palmanova.
5th Day: Guided tour of the main town of Friuli, Udine, with its wonderful historical centre, Piazza Libertà and Torre dell’Orologio. Free time for shopping and lunch. Transfer to an Oil Mill to taste the olive-oil Colli Orientali del Friuli, produced according an ancient tradition. Short lesson on local cooking and creation of typical menu. Dinner with the created menu. Overnight in Palmanova.
6th Day: Departure in the morning to Trieste, with en-route stop at the Castle of Miramare and guided walk through the middle-European historical centre of the town, with its splendid Piazza Unità and the ancient cafés. Lunch on your own and free time for shopping. In the afternoon we’ll visit the Grotta del Gigante (the Giant Cave), the biggest tourist cave in the world: the enormous
hall is 107 metres high and we can admire the wonderful and charming underground world represented by the caves and the rich calcite concretions, the highest of which is no less than 12 metres high. Departure for the near Slovene, to Lipitza, to enter the fascinating and wonderful world of Lipizzaner horses. Karst dinner and return to Palmanova. Overnight.
7th Day: Transfer to the airport. End of the tour.
After check-out, excursion to Gradisca d’Isonzo, one of the most beautiful village in Italy, with its Venetian parks and walls. Walk through the historical centre and time at disposal to buy the last souvenir before departure.
